Our Story

The Legend began in 1963, when our great Uncle Abe started 812-Car-Part out of his mechanic shop / service station in Bloomfield, Indiana. It was in that small garage that he learned, and taught others, to repair cars and rebuild carburetors. As kids, we grew up helping Uncle Abe every summer break and learned firsthand what it takes to run a successful automotive enterprise:

#1 Integrity Above All: Without a good reputation. You cannot succeed over the long term.

#2. If you can fix it yourself, fix it yourself: That’s why ALL of our repairs are done in house

#3. Specialize: Strive to be the very best at something few people do.

#4. Making as much money as possible is not what it’s all about: Life is too short! We sleep well at night knowing we get to make an honest living helping so many people.

        Using these three guiding principles as our foundation, 812-CAR-PART grew into something far bigger than Uncle Abe could have imagined. As we honed our expertise and adapted to the demands of new technology, we turned 812-CAR-PART into an online force. In 2020, we acquired AutoComputerWholesalers and expanded our enterprise into the great Empire State -- becoming one of the nation’s largest suppliers (and rebuilders!) of automotive electronics.

        Although a lot has changed since the 1960’s, and we’ve come a long way from Bloomfield, we haven’t forgotten the small town values that got us this far. We get to wake up everyday knowing we run an honest shop with the highest of integrity and ethical standards. We consider ourselves lucky to get to help people fix their cars ALL over the world. And, we very much look forward to the journey ahead!
